What is this?
Most of us rely on a few familiar ways of responding to life - the parts of us that are practiced, reliable, and socially reinforced. This is an intelligent way that we’ve learned to function.
But it also means other responses - other impulses, emotions, ways of being - don’t get to be seen and known. Not because they’re wrong, but because they’re less practiced, or harder to access in the moment.
Morning Practice is a weekly 30-minute guided container where we build a relationship with the body as a source of information and action.
Each week, we will:
• Bring awareness to the body (orienting, centering, feeling gravity)
• Introduce a simple prompt or intention
• Notice any perceivable or interesting sensations in the body
• Amplify what we find, allow sensation to expand into movement, sound, or expression
• Briefly embody it in a posture - a moment to ‘declare’ this part of ourselves and deepen relationship with it
The idea isn’t to figure yourself out or get it right, it’s to develop range. To become more familiar with different ways your system can express itself and to practice inhabiting them.
Over time, that can translate into:
• More access to subtle body signals
• More options in how you respond to situations in everyday life
• A broader emotional and expressive range
• An embodied connection to desires, longings, and intentions
Morning Practice isn’t about calming down, regulating, or improving yourself.
It’s about meeting what’s already here in your body - parts of you that carry their own intelligence - and letting them begin to shape how you move through your life.
About the Facilitator
I (Althea) am a somatic process facilitator trained in holistic nutrition and gut health, yin yoga, and unshaming (a somatic type of process work therapy descended from Jungian depth psychology, somatic therapy, and dreamwork). I am someone who enjoys learning through practice, allowing information to settle in my body and be brought to life through my lived experience. My current curiosity is to experiment with blending unshaming process work with somatics in a bite-sized personal practice in a cozy, group format - exploring the opportunities to come into contact with lesser known parts of ourselves, and let their intelligence inspire purposeful action in one’s life.
